Warm lights spilling from Steamer Whar are reflected and doubled in Lake Wakatipu below. The hills rise dark and protective behind, while the wharf itself becomes a threshold between the lit world above and its shimmering echo in the lake. 

There's movement here, but it's gentle. The reflections pull your gaze down toward into the water. This is a place & time of arrival and pause. That brief hour when the wharf reveals both its energy and its quietude.

The Glimmers Collection

Glimmers are considered tiny moments of joy in your day. This collection of small oil studies resists overthinking in capturing moments of light, place, and atmosphere. I aimed to paint them quickly and intuitively, with each work allowing softness and joy to lead the way. 

While these pieces are slightly looser than my canvas paintings, they are finished pieces in their own right, and some may inform future, larger works. Together, they offer an intimate pocket of joy.

Bokeh does 2 things:

1. It magnifies - the soft focus allows light & beauty to grow, and
2. It simplifies - the art takes the focus off 'sharp edges' and 'nitty gritty details'.
