is an original oil painting by New Zealand artist Mel McKenzie. Featuring native New Zealand flowers (Harakeke) and foliage (kawa kawa).

The heart shaped leaves of Kawa Kawa symbolise courage and fortitude. The Harakeke plant whose flowers she wears represent whanau (family).

Supported by whanau and emboldened with the courage of the Kawa Kawa, she’s ready for any challenges the year will dish up.

She's part of an ongoing series celebrating Aotearoa's unique flora and a reminder to cherish each day (wear the flowers in your hair).
