Why bokeh?

Bokeh is a softer way of seeing the world. It's a form of surrender, blurring away the nitty-gritty in front of us as we take the focus off the hard edges of life.

Originally a term found in photography, Mel manually unfocuses the camera as she takes her reference photos for these paintings and delights in watching the light grown in the camera as she does so.
